Michael Falco is a freelance photographer who works for a number of publications including the New York Times, National Geographic, and New York magazine.  This year he completed his five-year project commemorating the sesquicentennial of the Civil War.  His pinhole photographs of the major battlefields, coupled with images of battle reenactments, have been selected for the permanent collection of the National Archive at the Library of Congress.  Staten Island Museum mounted an exhibition of the Civil War series this spring, and Falco is finishing up his book of commentary and photographs of the project. His first book, Along Martin Luther King: Travels on America’s Black Main Street, is a collection of photographs he took of the streets in this country named after Dr. King. Falco’s photographs illustrate the museum’s book, Caddell Dry Dock: 100 Years Harborside, published in 2006. Chosen by the NYC Arts Commission, Where Marsh Meets the Sea, Falco’s 10’ x 28’ glass photographic mural, is a permanent installation at the SI Ferry Terminal and his Fresh Kills Series is on permanent display at the 9/11 Memorial Museum.    www.falcophoto.com
